There is sure to be plenty of collectors on the hunt for a Chris Duarte rookie card after that 27 point explosion in the rookie shooting guard’s NBA debut. In case you missed it, Duarte was about as good as it gets. Not only did he notch 27 points, but the kid also set a Pacers all-time record for 3-pointers in a debut game. Duarte went 6 of 9 from behind the arc and 9 of 15 from the field in a performance that has to have Pacer’s fan bursting with optimism. But can we expect that trend to continue? Let’s take a look a Duarte’s track record.
Breaking Down Chris Duarte’s College Performance
While Chris Duarte only played 2 years at Oregon, it was clear from the beginning he would pass the test of playing in a power conference with flying colors. Right of the bat the Ducks knew Duarte was a force to be reckoned with when he promptly notched a 12.9 point per game average his freshman year. As far as shooting goes, those 12.9 points came by way of a .414 field goal percentage and .336 from 3-point land.
However, it wasn’t until his second season that we started to see why Duarte was considered one of the best shooters in the 2021 NBA Draft. In what was a truly remarkable senior season, Duarte held a stunning .424 3-point percentage with an absurd .532 percentage of success from the field overall. Safe to say those numbers had NBA scouts foaming at the mouth. Something that was made clear when the Pacers snagged him at number 13 overall in the draft. At any rate, we’re sure you’re foaming at the mouth too at this point hoping we’ll get to those Chris Duarte rookie cards. Let’s take a look!

2021 Panini Chronicles Draft (Check eBay Listings)
Panini Chronicles is a great collection of cards from across a variety of Panini brands. While not the first set featuring the new batch of NBA rookies, it’s the go to collection at the moment. The card above shows off what to expect from the upcoming Donruss set and also shows off Duarte’s excellent court presence. In addition to Donurss, expect to see cards from Panini Select, Prizm, Contenders, Mosaic, and more. As far as value goes, this is the collection to target if you’re looking to buy a big dollar card. While there will be plenty of other high dollar collections coming next year, it’s nice to know we can get a taste of the action prior to 2022.
2021 Panini Instant (Check eBay Listings)
There is one thing you have to give Panini Instant credit for and that’s delivering the very first line of cards that feature the new crop of NBA rookies. While these don’t hold much value, they’re perfect if you can’t wait until the more prestigious collections are released. They’re also perfect for collectors who have their bankroll tied up in other ventures and are looking for something on the cheap. Many options for well under $50.
Top Card To Target: 2021 Panini Select In Flight (Check eBay Listings)
The Panini Select In Flight insert previewed by the Chronicles Draft collection is our favorite of the early Chris Duarte rookie card releases. It features Duarte going up for a monster slam (hopefully he’s not rejected by the rim) with sleek multi-colored borders and a stunning black header. These cards include Duarte’s autograph and come in various limited print runs. Prices vary depending on how rare the card is but many are available for less than $300. The card shown above is the /99 version which should be available for between $100 and $200 without a grade.
Not a Chris Duarte Rookie Card!
Chris Duarte Guitar Lessons DVD (Check eBay Listings)
We’re sure nobody would mistake the Pacers rookie for this obscure Austin Blues musician, but since there aren’t any other Chris Duarte rookie cards to talk about yet we’d figure we’d provide a quick heads up. If you see a guy with a long hair and a guitar, please be advised you are NOT looking at a Chris Duarte basketball card. However, if you’re in the mood to learn the guitar go right ahead as his lessons appear to be fairly popular! However, we’ll no means be recommending this for investment purposes anytime soon. Unless you’re investing in yourself on the road to become the country’s biggest blues artist!

Chris Duarte Rookie Card Investment Strategy
Short (1 year or less)
You have to be excited about what you saw in the opener. And at age 24, Duarte should be ready to roll right of of the gate. However, tempering those high expectations is always advised when you’re dealing with a rookie so we’re not ready to go all in. That said, he’s one of or favorite Rookie of the Year sleepers and we’re quite bullish on a short term investment.
Medium (1 to 3 years)
The Pacers aren’t far from being a force and Duarte could end up being the spark plug that takes the team to the next level over the next few years. Invest with confidence but consider taking short term profits if they’re too good to pass up. We’d recommend going in with a “see what happens” mindset rather than stashing away a card no matter what.
Long (3 years plus)
